Michael Lawton has been invited to attend trials in Dublin for the Irish Youth setup and has been progressing very well through the various selection stages. He has now been selected to go on tour and play for the Combined Provinces Team in France. This is a tour party of 30 from which the final 22 players will be picked to play for IRELAND in the European Championships being played in Italy in March/April. Congratulations and well done to Michael.

Ards Youth had no fixtures last Saturday and this presented an opportunity for four young Ards U18s to make their senior debut on Saturday, when they turned out with for the 3XV against Larne 3XV at Hamilton Park.  The four, Michael Lawton, David Tinkler, Glen Dougan and Matthew Weir, all enjoyed the experience with Lawton kicking 9 points for the team and look forward to next season when they will be able to turn out for the senior teams in the club on a more regular basis. Next week it's back to Youth rugby when Ballyclare comes to town and after that they host Instonians in the next round of the Cup   Details on the U16s Tour to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne are now nearing completion. Eighteen players and four adults will travel across to England on Friday 4th April and play games against Gosforth RFC on Saturday and another on Sunday (TBC) as well as getting a tour of the Newcastle Falcons ground before taking in the Falcons v Castres game later on that day. The U16s are also still in the Plate competition and will host Newry in a couple of weeks time.   The U14s are in the quarter-finals of the Plate competition and we await to see who their opponents will be. Invitations have also gone out for the U14s Super 10s competition, being held on Sunday 20th April and more details on the teams involved will be made known in due course.   This saturday, Ards Youth host Ballyclare in a friendly at Hamilton Park. Players are to meet at the club at 10am.
